Gemelli Hospital performs first global use of radioactive glue for pancreatic cancer

Researchers at the Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli in Rome have performed the first global clinical application of YntraDose, a radioactive biological glue designed to treat locally advanced, inoperable pancreatic cancer. Developed by the Italian biotech firm BetaGlue Therapeutics, the procedure was conducted on a 63-year-old woman with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.

The treatment aims to reduce tumor mass through targeted infiltration, potentially making the cancer eligible for traditional surgery at a later stage. The procedure was led by Professor Roberto Iezzi and conducted as part of an international clinical trial involving medical oncology experts, including Professor Giampaolo Tortora. The trial includes participating medical institutions across Italy, Belgium, and Great Britain, with further patient administrations scheduled for October.
