Gender-based violence persists despite legislative efforts

Reports highlight the ongoing challenge of gender-based violence and the need for deeper societal shifts to combat machismo. In Paraguay, discussions emphasize that legal frameworks and law enforcement are insufficient to address the root cultural causes of violence, which often begin with subtle behaviors like control and verbal harassment. There is a call for gender-perspective education in schools, churches, and community organizations to foster equality.

In Navarra, Spain, data from the Observatory against Domestic and Gender Violence shows 871 complaints were filed in the second quarter, representing an 8.2% decrease. Of the 813 victims identified, 339 were Spanish nationals and 474 were foreign nationals. Despite awareness efforts, studies indicate a growing fatigue toward feminism among young men, and sexual violence has seen a significant increase among minors aged 12 to 17.
