General López animal sterilization program reaches record 600 surgeries

The Quirófano Móvil program has reached a new milestone in the General López department, performing over 600 sterilizations of dogs and cats in the first seven months of 2026. This figure represents a significant increase compared to previous years, effectively tripling the pace of interventions recorded in 2024 (354) and 2025 (412).

Provincial Senator Leticia Di Gregorio noted that the growth reflects increased community awareness and greater participation from local municipalities and communes. The mobile operating room has traveled throughout the north, south, east, and west of the department, providing both surgical services and anti-rabies vaccinations. The initiative aims to control the population of stray animals, reduce abandonment, and address public health issues associated with animal overpopulation.
