General Motors re‑enters Turkish market with Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC lineup
General Motors announced its return to the Turkish automotive market through a partnership with local distributor Turoto. Under the agreement, the three GM brands Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC are now officially sold in Turkey, with models such as the Cadillac Escalade (including the V‑Series), Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado and the GMC Yukon and Sierra Denali now available.
The June price list shows premium‑segment pricing, for example the Escalade V‑Series at 47.5 million TL, the Tahoe RST at 19.9 million TL and the Yukon Denali at 28 million TL. Despite a recent reduction of the special consumption tax (ÖTV) from 60 % to 35 %, overall taxes remain high (220 % ÖTV, 20 % KDV and additional customs duties), keeping retail prices elevated.
Turoto CEO Turan Mutlu said the first shipment sold about 60‑70 % of its units and that a network of service centres is operating in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and other cities, with plans to expand to up to ten locations. GM Europe Managing Director Jean‑Pierre Diernaz called Turkey a strategically important market for the group.
