Río Negro advances major water and infrastructure projects

In Río Negro, Argentina, the provincial government has advanced significant infrastructure projects. The bidding process for the General Roca Potable Water Master Plan has begun, with five companies competing for the project. This major undertaking, budgeted at over $38.5 billion, aims to increase water production capacity by 50% and secure supply for an estimated 210,000 residents over the next 25 years. The project is being executed by Aguas Rionegrinas and financed through a loan from the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).

Additionally, the province has signed a contract to modernize 3,450 meters of storm drains in Cipolletti. This $4.77 billion investment, partially funded by CAF, is designed to improve drainage and reduce flooding risks as the city grows.

In a separate political development, María Emilia Soria, the Mayor of General Roca, is organizing a political alternative within the Peronist movement to challenge the current provincial administration in the 2027 elections, emphasizing the need for unity to remain competitive.
