Generative Bionics to build physical AI data factory in Italy
Generative Bionics has announced plans to construct a 5,000-square-metre physical AI training facility in Italy, intended to be one of Europe’s largest hubs for humanoid robot development. Scheduled to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2027, the facility aims to transition humanoid robotics from laboratory settings to reliable industrial deployment.
The company will utilize a “real-to-sim-to-real” development cycle, where fleets of Gene. 01 humanoid robots perform tasks in recreated industrial environments to generate physical data. This data is then used to train World Action Models and is validated through large-scale digital twin simulations.
AMD will serve as the infrastructure partner, providing computing power via its Helios rack-scale architecture to process physical and synthetic data and run parallel simulations. This project marks the first of a planned three-site network, with subsequent facilities planned for Europe and global markets to support European humanoid sovereignty in industrial automation.
