Generative Bionics industrial humanoid robotics development

Overview

Italian deep-tech startup Generative Bionics has initiated several strategic moves to advance industrial humanoid robotics through Physical AI. The company first established partnerships with energy giant Eni to explore robotic applications in inspection and remote teleoperation, as well as with Fincantieri for use in welding lines. Italian Minister Adolfo Urso has noted the strategic importance of this technology for the national industrial system.

Building on these collaborations, the company announced plans to construct a 5,000-square-metre physical AI training facility in Italy, intended to be one of Europe’s largest hubs for humanoid robot development. Expected to be operational by late 2027, the facility will use a “real-to-sim-to-real” development cycle to generate physical data via Gene. 01 humanoid robots. AMD will act as the infrastructure partner, providing computing power through its Helios architecture to support simulations and data processing. This facility is the first in a planned three-site network aimed at supporting European sovereignty in industrial automation.
