Genesis unveils GV90 flagship electric luxury SUV
Genesis has unveiled the GV90, its first full-size flagship electric SUV, in San Francisco. Designed to compete with luxury brands like Cadillac and Range Rover, the vehicle will be available in standard and high-end Neolun versions, with a market launch expected in 2027.
The GV90 features a 123.5 kWh battery, the largest in the Hyundai Motor Group, providing approximately 657 horsepower through a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. While the manufacturer estimates a range of roughly 500 kilometers (310 miles), this figure is based on internal testing and is not yet an official EPA rating.
Key design innovations include the ‘Neolun Arch Gate,’ a coach door system that eliminates the traditional B-pillar to allow for wide, independent door openings. The interior emphasizes luxury with features such as 180-degree rotating front seats for a face-to-face lounge layout, a 23.6-inch OLED central display that expands for cinematic use, and a ‘Crystal Sphere’ controller that replaces traditional start buttons. The vehicle also incorporates Korean-inspired design elements, including wood veneer flooring and a radiant heating system reminiscent of traditional ‘ondol’ floors.
