Genesis expands Magma performance and EV lineup

Overview

Genesis has significantly expanded its high-performance and electric vehicle portfolio through the introduction of the Magma series and strategic motorsport participation.

In May 2026, the brand unveiled the Magma performance series, led by the GV60 Magma electric SUV-coupé. During the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans, Genesis debuted the Magma GT Concept and the Magma GT3 Concept, while its Magma Racing team finished 13th overall in the hypercar class. Following Le Mans, the brand launched the GV60 Magma in the Netherlands and the Electrified GV70 in Italy, with a limited U.S. launch in California, New Jersey, and New York.

In August 2026, Genesis introduced its first hybrid powertrain: a 2.5-liter turbo hybrid system for the GV80 Hybrid. Utilizing a parallel configuration with a starter-generator and a drive motor, the system delivers 352 horsepower and 54.0 kgf·m of torque. It features the Hyundai Motor Group’s first liquid-cooled hybrid battery to provide an “EV-like” driving experience. The brand plans to extend hybrid or extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) technology to the GV70 and G80 models, with hybrid availability expected in Australia by 2027.

Additionally, Genesis officially unveiled the GV90, a full-size, three-row flagship electric SUV, at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Built on the brand-exclusive Electric Mobility Prime (eMP) platform, the GV90 is designed to compete with high-end luxury models. The vehicle will offer a premium Neolun variant featuring the ‘Neolun Arch Gate’—a pillar-less coach-style door system that uses high-strength steel beams and a concealed roll cage to replace the traditional B-pillar. Powered by dual motors producing 657 horsepower, the GV90 utilizes a 123.5 kWh battery with an estimated range of approximately 310 to 311 miles and supports 350kW fast charging.
