Genesis introduces first panoramic roof airbag in GV90

Genesis has introduced the first panoramic roof airbag in its GV90 model. The safety feature is designed to deploy across the entire sunroof within 0.8 seconds, protecting occupants from head impacts against the roof and reducing the amount of glass debris entering the cabin during a rollover or accident.

While the technology has been in development for years—with Hyundai Mobis showcasing a prototype as early as 2017—it is only now reaching the consumer market. The airbag is engineered to remain functional even when the sunroof is in an open position.
