Genesis unveils GV90 flagship electric SUV

Genesis, the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Group, has unveiled its first full-size flagship electric SUV, the GV90. Debuted at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, the vehicle is designed to compete with high-end models from Range Rover, Cadillac, and Rolls-Royce.

The GV90 is available in two versions: a standard model with traditional swing doors and the ultra-luxury GV90 Neolun. The Neolun features the ‘Neolun Arch Gate,’ a world-first design utilizing independently opening coach-style doors that eliminate the traditional B-pillar. To maintain safety without the B-pillar, Genesis implemented a reinforced ‘hidden roll cage’ with high-strength steel tubes and dual steel beams.

Built on the dedicated eMP (Electric Mobility Prime) platform, the GV90 features a 123.5 kWh battery, providing an estimated range of approximately 500 km (311 miles). The dual-motor AWD system delivers 490 kW (657 hp) and 800 Nm of torque. Key technological features include a 25-inch head-up display, a pop-up 24.6-inch OLED cinematic display, and a world-first roof airbag designed to protect occupants during rollovers.

Luxury appointments include 180-degree rotating front seats, a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, and a heated floor inspired by traditional Korean ‘ondol’ heating. The GV90 is expected to enter markets including the US, Europe, and Australia by 2027, with the Neolun version targeting the highest echelons of the luxury EV segment.
