Genesis unveils GV90 flagship electric SUV

Genesis has officially unveiled its flagship electric SUV, the GV90, at a tech brief in San Francisco. The vehicle, which includes a high-end Neolun version, is designed to compete with ultra-luxury brands like Bentley and Rolls-Royce.

A standout feature is the Neolun Arch Gate, a world-first coach door system that eliminates the traditional B-pillar. To maintain structural integrity, Genesis engineers integrated 1.8GPa-strength steel beams into the doors and a hidden roll cage within the body. The vehicle also introduces a world-first roof airbag designed to protect occupants during rollover accidents by covering the glass roof.

Built on the dedicated eMP electric platform, the GV90 features a 123.5 kWh battery and dual motors producing 490 kW (approximately 666 hp) and 800 Nm of torque. It supports 350 kW fast charging, capable of reaching 80% capacity in about 22 minutes. The SUV also includes advanced features such as dual e-LSD, multi-chamber air suspension, and rear-wheel steering.

In addition to the GV90, Genesis announced the GV80 Hybrid, which utilizes a 2.5-liter turbo engine paired with two electric motors. The hybrid model aims to offer a 25% improvement in fuel economy over gasoline versions while providing increased power.
