Genesis unveils GV90 flagship luxury electric SUV

Genesis has unveiled the GV90, its new flagship luxury electric SUV, marking a significant expansion into the ultra-luxury market. Debuted at a tech brief in San Francisco, the vehicle is built on the brand's new eMP platform, which utilizes a lightweight aluminum chassis designed specifically for large-scale electric vehicles to optimize space and range.

The GV90 features several high-end technological innovations, including the ‘Neolun Arch Gate’ system, which employs coach-style doors that open independently without a traditional B-pillar. To maintain structural integrity, the design incorporates reinforced internal structures inspired by racing roll cages. The vehicle offers a dual-motor AWD setup producing 657 hp, powered by a 123.5 kWh battery capable of a 500 km range and 10-to-80% charging in 22 minutes.

Interior luxury is emphasized through features such as rotating front seats, a 23.6-inch cinematic OLED display, and a 25-inch head-up display. Samsung Display is supplying the vehicle with advanced OLED panels, including a two-tandem structure for high brightness and longevity. While currently positioned as a battery electric vehicle (BEV), Genesis executives noted that the platform's compatibility allows for potential extended-range electric (EREV) variants to meet consumer demand.
