Genoa issues yellow weather alert for thunderstorms
A yellow weather alert has been issued for Genoa, effective from 10:00 to 23:59 on Thursday, August 20, due to forecasted thunderstorms.
In response, the Municipal Civil Protection Plan has been activated. Authorities have ordered the closure of all construction sites and excavations in torrent beds. Additionally, pedestrian access to the Passo Carlineo walkway on the Chiaravagna torrent is prohibited. Local police and Civil Protection volunteers will monitor the city's main waterways throughout the alert period.
Residents are advised to take precautionary measures, such as protecting ground-floor premises with sandbags, closing cellar and garage doors, and moving vehicles to higher ground. During the alert, citizens should avoid low-lying areas, underpasses, and locations near riverbanks.
