Genoa launches hearing prevention initiative for elderly

The City of Genoa has launched a public notice to establish a collaborative network aimed at preventing hearing loss and reducing social isolation among vulnerable elderly citizens. Proposed by Welfare Councilor Cristina Lodi, the initiative seeks to partner with public entities, private companies, and social organizations through non-costly collaboration protocols.

The project focuses on individuals over the age of 65 who are experiencing socio-economic difficulties and are already supported by local social services. Planned activities include information campaigns, awareness events, and educational programs. Additionally, the network aims to provide free or subsidized hearing services and solidarity-based initiatives to ensure that hearing impairment does not lead to emotional or social withdrawal from family and the community.
