Genoa launches participatory urban planning walks
The City of Genoa has launched a participatory urban planning initiative titled “Passeggiata urbanistica” (Urban Walk) to help design the city’s future through the new Municipal Urban Plan (PUC). The first walk took place in the Pegli district, involving local officials and architecture experts to define the perimeters of 19 historical centers that comprise the Greater Genoa area.
The project aims to promote a polycentric and sustainable “15-minute city” model by recognizing and valuing established urban nuclei and their community significance. Officials emphasized that the initiative seeks to build a collective understanding of neighborhoods by involving residents directly in the planning process rather than relying solely on maps.
