Genoa police conduct joint patrols, arrest three suspects in city‑wide crackdown

On the evening of Wednesday, police forces from the UPGSP, the Ligurian Crime Prevention Unit, the central police station, the maritime police (Polfer), the financial guard, the army and a canine anti‑drug team carried out a coordinated inter‑force patrol across Genoa’s historic centre and surrounding neighbourhoods. The Questura said the operation aimed to deter organised crime, drug trafficking and violent youth gatherings, adding “ieri, in fascia serale e notturna” (yesterday, in the evening and night) the patrol covered streets such as Pollaiuoli, Via di San Donato and Piazza delle Erbe. During the patrol officers seized about 8 g of hashish hidden in a wall and arrested a 27‑year‑old Senegalese who was found with a small dose of hashish.

Separate police actions in Pegli, Via Jori and Cornigliano resulted in three additional arrests: a 40‑year‑old Italian detained on a pre‑existing prison order, a 20‑year‑old Algerian charged with aggravated attempted theft after attempting to break into a parked car, and a 54‑year‑old Italian cited for fraudulent insolvency. The operations were part of an ongoing effort to maintain public order and combat drug‑related offences across the city.
