Italy faces multiple investigations into animal cruelty and neglect

Multiple incidents of animal cruelty and neglect have been reported across various Italian regions. In Padova, the OIPA organization is filing a complaint following the disappearance of at least 14 cats. Authorities are investigating four individuals suspected of using food to lure cats, amid concerns regarding an illegal online network that trades videos of animal abuse.

In Barbarano, a domestic cat survived a gunshot wound to the face after being targeted by a firearm. Investigators are treating the incident as a deliberate act of cruelty. Meanwhile, in Adrano, a 46-year-old man has been ordered to undergo mandatory medical treatment after the discovery of two deceased dogs near his home; one animal was reportedly set on fire.

In Erice, regional deputies have launched an inquiry into the death of a dog found abandoned in a carrier. The investigation seeks to determine if the animal was alive when left and why emergency services failed to respond to initial reports. Additionally, in Portopalo di Capo Passero, the mayor has denounced the suspected poisoning of a local feline colony.
