Genser Energy completes buyout of Oppenheimer Partners' stake

Genser Energy has purchased the entire 40.4% shareholding held by Oppenheimer Partners, ending the investment firm’s five‑year involvement in the Ghanaian energy company. Oppenheimer first invested in 2021 as a preferred shareholder, converting to a common shareholder in 2023 before the recent redemption.

Founded in 2006, Genser now operates more than 310 MW of generation capacity and a 436‑km privately built natural gas pipeline network across West Africa. The company has added 110 km of pipeline, built a 200 million scfd gas‑conditioning plant in Prestea and begun cross‑border electricity exports to Côte d’Ivoire. CEO Baafour Asiamah Adjei called the transaction “an important milestone,” while chairman Nana Osae Nyampong said the buyout will allow Genser to focus on its next stage of regional growth.
