Georgia heat advisory warns of 109°F conditions across 33 counties

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Glynn County, Georgia, forecasting heat‑index values up to 109 °F from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. A separate advisory covers an additional 31 counties across central, east‑central, north‑central, southeast and west‑central Georgia, with heat‑index readings expected to reach as high as 105 °F and lasting from noon to 8 p.m.

Officials advise residents to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, use air‑conditioned spaces, and check on vulnerable people such as the elderly, children and those with medical conditions. Cooling centers and public facilities are available for those without home cooling.

The advisories affect a total of 33 Georgia counties, including Morgan, Greene, Jasper, Putnam, Hancock, Monroe, Jones, Baldwin, Washington, Taylor, Crawford, Bibb, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Johnson, Emanuel, Macon, Peach, Houston, Bleckley, Laurens, Treutlen, Dooly, Crisp, Pulaski, Wilcox, Dodge, Telfair, Wheeler, Montgomery and Toombs, as well as both coastal and inland Glynn County.
