Georgia man charged in Molotov cocktail attack on Atlanta ICE facility

Inique Hinton, a 31-year-old man from Douglasville, Georgia, has been charged following an alleged Molotov cocktail attack on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building in downtown Atlanta.

Federal authorities and the FBI arrested Hinton at a residence in Cobb County. Surveillance footage reportedly captured the suspect igniting an object and throwing it toward the multi-story brick facility on Ted Turner Drive. The device struck the building’s exterior metal fence, causing flames to spread. Investigators recovered burned cloth, a glass bottle, lighter fluid, and a lighter at the scene.

U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg characterized the incident as an “act of terrorism” and “political violence.” Hinton faces federal charges of attempted arson of a federal building and depredation of government property. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison for the arson charge and up to 10 years for the depredation charge.
