Attack on Atlanta ICE facility
Overview
On October 20, 2026, three incendiary devices, described as “Molotov cocktail-style devices,” were thrown at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility and immigration court in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The attack caused minor property damage, but no injuries were reported.
Following an investigation by the FBI, authorities arrested Inique Hinton, a 31-year-old man from Douglasville, Georgia, at a residence in Cobb County. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the suspect igniting and throwing an object that struck the facility’s metal fence, causing flames to spread. Investigators recovered items including a glass bottle, lighter fluid, and a lighter at the scene.
U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg characterized the incident as an “act of terrorism” and “political violence.” Hinton faces federal charges of attempted arson of a federal building and depredation of government property, which carry potential prison sentences of up to 20 and 10 years, respectively.
