Georgia weather returns to heat, humidity, and storm risks

Georgia is experiencing a return to high humidity, rising temperatures, and frequent thunderstorm activity. After a brief period of more comfortable weather, muggy air is spreading north across the state, with temperatures expected to reach near 90 degrees in metro Atlanta.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for north and central Georgia, warning that scattered to numerous thunderstorms could lead to isolated instances of flash flooding due to heavy rainfall. The risk of localized flash flooding is expected to persist from Friday through the upcoming weekend.

In North Georgia, thunderstorms on Friday may also produce strong to damaging wind gusts. While rain chances may decrease slightly early next week, temperatures are projected to remain warmer than average as the state transitions from August into September.
