Geovany Andres Rojas extradited from Colombia to face U.S. charges
Geovany Andres Rojas, an alleged leader of the Comandos de la Frontera armed group, has been extradited from Colombia to the United States. Rojas, known by the alias “Araña” or “the Spider,” arrived in San Diego under the escort of agents from the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Following his arrival, Rojas is scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Steve B. Chu in the Southern District of California. He faces a federal superseding indictment issued on March 7, 2025, which includes charges of international conspiracy to distribute cocaine and narco-terrorism.
The cocaine conspiracy charge carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years, while the narco-terrorism charge carries a minimum of 20 years; both carry the possibility of life imprisonment. Prosecutors allege that Rojas's organization profited from cocaine production and maintained territorial control in southwestern Colombia through violence and weaponry.
