Geovany Andrés Rojas charged with 16 homicides in Caquetá

The Colombian Attorney General's Office has charged Geovany Andrés Rojas, known as ‘Araña’, the leader of the ‘Comandos de Frontera’ armed group, for his alleged responsibility in 16 homicides in the Caquetá department between 2020 and 2024.

Investigators documented 13 armed attacks across various municipalities, including Florencia, La Montañita, and Solita. The victims included four social leaders, five signatories of the Peace Agreement, and seven other individuals. The prosecution alleges that the attacks targeted those perceived as obstacles to the group's control over illicit economies, such as cocaine paste trade and drug trafficking routes, or those suspected of collaborating with authorities and rival armed groups.

Specific cases cited include the December 2023 murder of social leader María Isabel Ramos Álzate in Solita and the November 2020 killing of peace signatory Jorge Riaño Ramos in Florencia. Rojas faces charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, homicide, and the illegal manufacture, trafficking, and possession of firearms.
