Gera implements extensive street closures for construction and safety works

The city of Gera, Germany, has announced a series of road closures affecting multiple streets from early July through August. The intersection of Berliner Straße and Straße des Bergmanns is closed until the end of August while tram tracks are renewed, with a wide detour in place. Berliner Straße at the Grüner Weg junction is closed from July 4‑5 for a temporary bus stop. Parts of the Stadtring Nord in the Cretzschwitz and Langenberg areas are closed on July 6‑7 for bridge inspections, and the Untermhäuser bridge remains shut for pedestrian repairs through August. The Salzstraße segment between Sachsenstraße and Liebschwitzer Straße is fully closed from July 6 to August 14 for flood‑protection works, rerouted via B92/Vogtlandstraße. Additional partial closures include Ziegelberg (July 7‑9), Grüner Weg (July 7‑9) for lighting pole replacement, and several streets for utilities and sewer work extending into late 2027.

These measures are intended to facilitate tram‑track renewal, bridge maintenance, flood‑protection upgrades, and other infrastructure projects, with extensive signage directing traffic around the affected zones. Residents are advised to consult the city’s traffic portal for updates on specific detours and timelines.
