French towns host summer festivals in early August

Across several French towns, a series of summer festivals are scheduled for the first week of August. In Agde, the programme includes a concert by the legendary British reggae group UB40 on 6 August, alongside beach‑soccer events, fireworks at Fort de Brescou and a tribute festival featuring homages to Coldplay, the Bee Gees and Johnny Hallyday.

The Bugey region presents its 9th edition of the classical music festival “Musiques en Bugey”, with concerts ranging from soprano Elia Cohen Weissert to a final Brahms performance in Culoz. Small‑town celebrations in Roquebrune (Gers) and Gerde feature three‑day programmes of concerts, pétanque tournaments, family olympiads, quad rides and communal meals.

Joeuf marks the 20th anniversary of its Culture‑Sport association with free sport workshops, a ceremony, a barbecue for volunteers and a fireworks display. In Molières, a variety of musical evenings, market stalls and cultural talks are also listed for 7 August.
