German activists protest U.S. blockade of Cuba in Berlin

Activists in Berlin held a week-long protest and symbolic blockade at the U.S. Embassy to demonstrate solidarity with Cuba and protest the ongoing U.S. economic and fuel blockade. The demonstrations, organized by the German Cuba solidarity movement, included a 120-participant bicycle parade from the Cuban Embassy to the German Foreign Ministry and culminated in a human chain of approximately 200 people near the Brandenburg Gate.

The protest coincided with the opening of the United Nations General Debate. Activists used the event to highlight the impact of the U.S. embargo on the Cuban people and to share information regarding the Cuban Revolution. Some participants reported collecting donations to fund the shipment of approximately 4,000 solar panels from China to Cuba to assist with energy needs.
