German AI Act Implementation Gains TÜV Support
The German Bundesrat has cleared the way for the national implementation law (KI‑MIG) that will enforce the EU AI Act. The TÜV Verband welcomed the decision, emphasizing the plan to bundle AI market supervision under the Bundesnetzagentur and urging a rapid build‑up of effective oversight and notification processes while preserving existing sector‑specific structures.
Regulatory experts warn that the EU AI Act will affect far more German companies than initially assumed. The lack of technical standards, unclear authority responsibilities and postponed deadlines – with transparency obligations starting 2 August 2026 and high‑risk AI deadlines ranging from December 2027 to August 2028 – create significant compliance uncertainty for firms using standard software that incorporates AI functions.
