German athletes win European swimming medals and dominate local triathlon
Synchronized swimmer Klara Bleyer, 22, of Bochum captured a silver medal in the free solo and a bronze in the technical routine at the European Championships in Paris. She was also named Bochum Sportsperson of the Year 2025, but had to fund roughly €20,000 of her own training costs despite support from the German Swimming Federation and other sponsors.
At the 38th Sassenberg Triathlon in Germany, Ina Ketzer won the women’s 60‑plus age group with a ten‑minute lead, finishing in 1:26:18. Her husband, Christoph Ketzer, placed second in the men’s 55‑plus category with a time of 1:20:35. The race featured near‑perfect weather and water conditions, contributing to fast performances.
Both achievements highlight the strength of German athletes in international and regional competitions.
