German autobahns face major construction and traffic restrictions

Major roadwork projects are underway on several German autobahns, managed by Autobahn GmbH.

On the A65, resurfacing work between the Landau-Zentrum and Landau-Nord junctions is scheduled to begin on June 29. The project is expected to continue until August 2026. Starting June 27, traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction. By early July, traffic will be shifted to the opposing carriageway, causing temporary closures of certain exits and entrances at the Landau-Zentrum junction. Drivers are advised to follow official diversions via the B272, L542, and L506 rather than relying on navigation systems.

At the Walldorfer Kreuz, maintenance is being conducted on connecting ramps and side lanes, alongside guardrail modernization. A significant phase involving the ramps from the A6 (via Mannheim and Heilbronn) to the A5 toward Heidelberg is set to begin in mid-August 2026, with completion expected by the second week of September. Specific diversions are in place for travelers heading toward Heidelberg and Frankfurt, including routes via the A656 and A67.
