German bakeries Lampe and Stamm declare insolvency, 48 stores affected

Two long‑standing German bakery chains entered insolvency in early June 2026. Bäckerei Lampe GmbH & Co. KG, a family‑run business founded in 1879 and operating 44 outlets across Thuringia, Saxony‑Anhalt and Saxony, filed for preliminary insolvency administration on 4 June. The chain employs about 280 people; wages are covered by unemployment insurance until the end of July. The company cites sharply higher personnel and energy costs and reduced consumer spending as the main drivers.

The Bio‑Bäckerei Stamm, part of the Brotkunst GmbH group and operating four locations in Bingen (Rhineland‑Palatinate), was placed under provisional administration on 2 June. One of its sites has already closed, while the remaining stores stay open. Stamm has more than a century of history.

Separately, the former central bakery of the insolvent Kayser Drei brand in Neuenrade, North Rhine‑Westphalia, is being offered for sale at €550,000. The 1,500 m² facility includes production, storage and office space and could be revived by a new investor, potentially restoring jobs lost when Kayser Drei’s 120‑employee workforce was laid off after its second insolvency filing.
