German banks roll out cash bonuses for new Giro accounts

ING has launched a new promotion for private customers in Germany that can reward up to €300 for opening a first checking (Giro) account and, optionally, a direct securities depot. To qualify, customers must make two consecutive monthly deposits within the first four months after account opening and log into the ING app at least once. Adding a first depot and starting a savings plan adds a further €100 voucher. The offer is valid until 30 September 2026.

Postbank is running a separate cash‑back campaign that grants a one‑time €150 credit to new Giro‑pur account holders who open the account online. Eligibility requires a minimum €500 incoming payment in the first full calendar month, the account to remain active for at least twelve months, and the applicant to be an adult resident of Germany who has not held a Postbank account in the previous six months. The promotion runs from 3 August to 14 September 2026.
