German cities launch 2026 Stadtradeln bike challenge to boost climate-friendly commuting

From 20 June to 10 July 2026, the German town of Buchen will host the third edition of Stadtradeln, inviting residents to log as many everyday bike trips as possible. Participants can record kilometers via an online platform or the free Stadtradeln app, earning points for reduced CO₂ emissions and promoting healthier, air‑cleaner travel.

In the city of Lübeck, the Radsport Team Lübeck will compete in Stadtradeln from 30 May to 19 June 2026. The team encourages members and the public to cycle to work, shops and leisure activities, offering training sessions for beginners and tracking progress through the event’s website and Strava. Both campaigns aim to increase cycling mileage, improve fitness and support climate‑friendly mobility across the region.
