German municipal libraries launch a series of community events in June 2026

Several German city libraries are holding public programmes in June 2026. In Bad Honnef, the new municipal library hosted a family-friendly reading by police author Andy Neumann, who explained police equipment and procedures. Volkach’s city library organised a “Familien‑Literat(o)ur” bus trip to the Frankfurt Book Fair, offering tours, live readings and author meet‑and‑greets. Halle (Saale) celebrated the relocation of its Süd branch to a new premises at Platz der Völkerfreundschaft, with activities such as plant swaps and a bounce house for visitors. Erkrath’s city library announced revised schedules for its early‑childhood reading groups – “Bücherwürmchen”, “Lesezwergen” and “Buchpiraten” – adding extra sessions and confirming free participation. Frankenthal introduced a new “Lesekids Spaziergang” programme that combines short walks, reading and language games for children aged seven and up. Leipzig’s Grünau district marked the 50‑year anniversary of its libraries with a week of workshops, contests and exhibitions across three branch locations. Finally, three neighbourhood libraries in Ludwigshafen – Gartenstadt, Rheingönheim and Oggersheim – will host book‑flea markets in June, selling surplus library items for one euro each.
