German companies adopt new tools to meet E-invoicing mandates

German companies are navigating new requirements for electronic invoicing following the 2025 mandate that requires all businesses to be capable of receiving E-invoices. Because XRechnungen are XML-based files that cannot be opened like standard PDFs, small businesses have faced practical difficulties in managing these documents.

To address this, BillingEngine has launched a free mailbox service designed to recognize and process various formats, including XRechnung (UBL and CII), ZUGFeRD, and Factur-X. The service provides a dedicated receiving address that automatically extracts embedded XML data from hybrid files.

Additionally, ediware GmbH has introduced the ediware EEXconverter. This software is designed to bridge the gap between modern EN 16931-compliant E-invoicing and established EDI-INVOIC processes. The tool allows companies to integrate new electronic invoicing standards into existing ERP and supply chain workflows without requiring an abrupt transition from traditional EDI structures.
