German consumers prioritize quality and value in furniture market

A YouGov survey commissioned by imm cologne reveals that German consumers are making increasingly pragmatic and rational decisions regarding furniture purchases. Key priorities for 96.5% of respondents include product quality, while nearly equal importance is placed on price-performance ratios (96.3%) and durability (95.5%), indicating that furniture is viewed as a long-term investment.

Other significant consumer demands include customization options (75.1%), rapid delivery (71.3%), and sustainability (65.3%). While style variety and modern design remain important, the geographic origin of products is losing influence; only 53.4% of respondents consider the place of origin a key factor. Notably, 48% of those surveyed rate the price-performance ratio of Asian furniture as good, reflecting the integration of international production structures into the daily market.

Bernd Sanden, Director of imm cologne, stated that the results show consumers are seeking products that are durable, high-quality, and economically attractive. The imm cologne trade fair aims to address these shifting consumption realities by bringing together international providers.
