German regions log record 2.4 million km in 2026 Stadtradeln campaign

The nationwide "Stadtradeln" cycling campaign in 2026 saw record participation across numerous German districts. The Rhein‑Neckar‑Kreis led with 2,422,062 km ridden by 11,651 participants, avoiding about 397 t of CO₂.

Other regions reported notable results: Landkreis Haßberge logged 190,420 km (≈31 t CO₂), Neumarkt 149,112 km (≈24 t CO₂), Bamberg city and district combined 666,660 km (≈109 t CO₂), and Traunstein 240,157 km (≈39 t CO₂). Together the campaign surpassed the previous year’s total by a large margin.

The effort also engaged schools and kindergartens, with nearly 700 children in Marktoberdorf and various school teams earning awards. Organisers highlighted the role of everyday bicycle trips in climate protection and health promotion.
