German Eurofighters to conduct training at Weeze Airport

Several Eurofighter fighter jets from the German Air Force are arriving at the civilian Weeze Airport on the Lower Rhine for a nearly one-week relocation exercise. The training aims to prepare air force crews to operate from civilian airports.

Air Force spokesperson Alexander Feja stated that the exercise involves practicing cooperation between military and civilian personnel, specifically regarding tower operations and technical tasks such as refueling. The jets are being deployed from the Nörvenich airbase in the Düren district.

Civilian flight operations at Weeze are expected to continue without disruption for holiday travelers. To minimize noise pollution for local residents, officials stated that pilots will avoid using afterburners during takeoffs.
