German experts advise parents on ADHD, warn of underdiagnosed ADS in women
Psychologist Lisa Zimmermann explains that many German parents of children with ADHD lack adequate information; a 2021 Sinus Institute survey found one in ten parents suspect the disorder but only half feel sufficiently informed. She recommends specific parenting approaches that avoid aggravating symptoms and stresses that mis‑aligned methods can worsen long‑term outcomes.
Physicians Daniel Schöttle and Alexandra Philipsen describe ADS – the attention‑deficit subtype without hyperactivity – as especially common yet often missed in females. They suggest mindfulness, psycho‑education, coaching, therapy and, when appropriate, medication to support affected women.
