Austria police arrest armed robber and intercept fleeing driver

In Oberwart, Austria, a 29-year-old driver suspected of driving under the influence was intercepted by soldiers participating in a military exercise. After the driver fled at high speed, the Austrian Armed Forces successfully stopped the vehicle. During the subsequent arrest, the suspect allegedly resisted by attempting to kick and bite officers, resulting in injuries to two police officers.

In a separate incident in Wels-Neustadt, a 30-year-old man surrendered to the police for an armed robbery committed on September 6. The suspect, who has a prior criminal record, confessed to robbing a gas station at gunpoint to settle debts from a failed drug deal. He has been transferred to the Wels judicial institution.
