German fire chiefs retire in Diez and Wiesbaden

Marcus Grün was honored and retired after two decades as Wehrleiter of the Verbandsgemeinde Diez, receiving the Golden Fire Service Medal and passing the leadership to Sebastian Kuhmann in a ceremony on 17 June 2026 attended by local officials and around 200 firefighters.

Andreas Kleber, who joined the Wiesbaden fire service in 2012 and became Amtsleiter in 2023, was formally placed in pre‑retirement by Mayor Gert‑Uwe Mende at a farewell ceremony at fire station 3 in May, with the city recognizing his long‑term contributions to public safety.
