International teams assist Serbia in fighting Deliblatska Peščara wildfires
International firefighting teams from Germany, Romania, and Hungary are assisting Serbian authorities in combating active wildfires, particularly in the Deliblatska Peščara region. Following the activation of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, a German module consisting of 56 personnel and 24 vehicles has been deployed to the Čardak area.
While the situation in Deliblatska Peščara has stabilized following recent rainfall, crews remain on-site 24 hours a day to monitor for new hotspots. The firefighting effort includes specialized aerial support, such as a Russian Il-76TD aircraft and various helicopters.
In other parts of the country, fires remain active. In the Vranje region, a fire in the village of Lukovo continues to spread toward Barelić, though no residential buildings are currently reported as being under immediate threat. Efforts are also ongoing to localize a fire on Mount Stolovi.
