German firms double production capacity with new factories

Freiberg Instruments announced a major expansion that will double its production capacity. A new hall will integrate production, laboratories and administration, shorten internal routes and host customer demonstrations. The investment also adds CNC milling, robotic machining, water‑jet cutting and a photovoltaic system, aimed at meeting growing global demand for complex, custom measurement solutions.

Siemens Healthineers is building a 4,500 m² assembly and manufacturing hall in Kemnath, Bavaria, with an investment of about €70 million. The Smart Mechanic Center will automate the large‑scale machining of medical‑technology components, especially for radiation therapy, and is scheduled to start operations by mid‑2027. The project will modernise existing facilities, create jobs and target CO₂‑neutral operation.

Both projects reflect a broader push by German manufacturers to enhance flexibility, automation and sustainability while supporting international growth.
