German manufacturing expansion projects

In July 2026 German manufacturers announced a series of large‑scale facility expansions aimed at roughly doubling production capacity. Freiberg Instruments unveiled a new hall that integrates production, laboratories and administration, adding CNC milling, robotic machining, water‑jet cutting and a photovoltaic system to meet growing global demand for complex measurement solutions. Siemens Healthineers began constructing a 4,500 m² assembly and manufacturing hall in Kemnath, Bavaria, focusing on automated machining of medical‑technology components and targeting CO₂‑neutral operation by mid‑2027.

Later in July, Häfele formally opened its high‑tech logistics centre on the Wolfsberg site in Nagold. The inauguration was attended by Baden‑Württemberg state secretary for economics Thomas Dörflinger and Nagold mayor Jürgen Großmann, who highlighted the project as a major boost for the regional economy. The facility includes a 110‑metre bridge linking the new building to the existing shipping centre, an automated shuttle warehouse with 96 000 storage locations and 132 shuttle vehicles, and intelligent case‑calculation software that optimises carton sizes and material use. Sustainable construction measures reused about 28 000 t of demolition waste, incorporated recycled concrete and added a 2 m³ ice‑storage system.

Holp GmbH marked its 25‑year anniversary alongside the completion of a larger production building. Managing director Günter Holp and sales director Torsten Schick stressed the need to confront future challenges such as AI integration, skilled‑labour shortages and supply‑chain volatility while pursuing a capacity‑doubling goal.

All three projects underscore a July‑wide push to modernise digital workflows, increase automation and reinforce Germany’s role in the international manufacturing sector.
