German firms begin new apprenticeship cohorts across multiple regions
A wave of apprenticeship programmes launched this week at several German companies and public institutions. The newly merged VR Bank Fulda and VR Bank Main‑Kinzig Büdingen began a joint introductory week for 18 apprentices, dual students and practicum participants as part of the future VR RegionalBank. KRAUSE in Alsfeld‑Altenburg welcomed 11 new apprentices and year‑long interns across industrial commerce, IT, metalworking, logistics and mechatronics, emphasizing practical training and high post‑training retention. Heurich GmbH & Co. KG started 20 apprentices in seven trades, including sales, commerce, IT, logistics, driving and machinery operation. The energy provider NEW hired a record 49 apprentices in 15 occupations, introducing its first female electronics trainees and offering dual study options. Local housing firms WINDOR and DWG each took four apprentices in technical and administrative roles. The city of Dortmund opened applications for roughly 400 apprenticeship and study places in 33 professions, ranging from administration and firefighting to technical trades and dual degrees. Regional employment agencies also reported hundreds of vacant apprenticeship slots in Heinsberg (425), Worms (151) and other districts, underscoring a strong demand for skilled youth training across Germany.
