German consumers are seeking budget-friendly ways to shop sustainably instead of buying from ultra‑fast‑fashion sites such as Shein or Temu. Community suggestions include using online second‑hand platforms like Momox Fashion, Sellpy, Kleinanzeigen and Second Life Fashion, as well as buying pre‑owned items from fair‑fashion brands such as Hessnatur, which runs a dedicated resale shop. Local alternatives such as regular flea markets, pop‑up clothing‑swap parties and other second‑hand events are also promoted as ways to reduce resource use while saving money.

A series of open flea markets will take place across the Baden‑Württemberg region in July 2026. The events—held without prior registration—include a large market at the EurAka campus in Baden‑Baden (11 July, 9 – 16 h), a market on Dickhäuterplatz in Ettlingen (11 July, 8 – 14 h), a two‑day Gruschtelmarkt in Pforzheim’s city centre (17‑18 July), and markets on the Festplatz in Rastatt (25 July and additional dates). Stand fees range from €8 to €18 per square metre, and the venues are marketed as convenient places for shoppers to find inexpensive clothing and other goods while supporting circular consumption.
