German libraries host summer reading clubs in Menden and Cottbus
The Dorte‑Hilleke City Library in Menden has opened its "SommerLeseClub 2026" from 14 July to 3 September. The program welcomes children, teenagers and adults, offering more than 100 newly acquired novels, audiobooks and a stamp‑based reading logbook. Participants can also join limited‑capacity creative workshops such as picture‑book cinema, craft sessions and a "wild duck hunt" game. Registration is possible in person or online, with parental consent required for those under 16.
On 22 July, the City and Regional Library in Cottbus will host a one‑day "radio3 Lesekreis" at 16:00. Under the theme "The Summer of Good Stories", literature agent Thomas Böhm will lead a reading and discussion of a short story from world literature, previously broadcast on radio3. The event is part of rbb’s summer cultural tour across Berlin and Brandenburg and requires phone registration.
