German libraries launch new 3D printing services for the public

The Stadtbibliothek Gladbeck has added a 3D printer to its offerings, allowing patrons aged 16 and older to print personal models after a free introductory session. Printing fees are based on material use and time, and the service aims to let users create small everyday items such as fixtures or replacement parts on‑site.

The Stadtbibliothek Troisdorf is running free 3D‑printing workshops for beginners on 6 June and 4 July, open to participants aged 13+. Attendees learn to design, slice and print models, and can subsequently submit their own print jobs for a modest material charge. Both programmes require a valid library card.
