German local awards for volunteerism launch 2026 nomination drives

Saarland sports volunteer award Halle citizen prize 2026 nominations volunteer engagement German local awards

The Saarland Ministry of the Interior‑backed LSVS has opened applications for its 2026 "Prize for Volunteer Engagement in Sport". The €12,000 award will be given in eight categories—including lifetime achievement, youth, adult, inclusion, integration, sustainability, projects and an innovation prize. Applications are accepted via a digital form until 21 June 2026, and the ceremony is scheduled for 26 November 2026 in the Camera Zwo cinema.

In Halle (Saale), nominations are being accepted for the Bürgerpreis "Der Esel, der auf Rosen geht" until 16 May 2026. The award, honoring individuals or groups that serve the common good, will be presented on 22 August 2026 at the Neues Theater. A panel of local officials and representatives from the Volksbank, media, police, cultural office and city utilities will select the winners.
